A letter of recommendation.
I have been asked to write a recommendation on behalf of Robb Preskins. I do so without hesitation. I researched many "Bullying
Presentations" before choosing Robb. Last year we saw the bullying issue in schools escalate to new heights.
As a School Psychologist and Guidance Counselor,
I wanted a presentation that would target specific acts of bullying at an Elementary level and one that would approach bullying with humor and the ability to appeal to both First Graders and Fifth Graders. To be honest, Robb's presentation went above and beyond that. He first wins over the kids through humor and asking questions to get them involved and taking it to a personal level. Robb uses many different props and both teachers and kids fell in love with his furry friend "Lloyd."
The fifth graders enjoyed it as much or even more than the younger children. One of the many reasons this is such an excellent presentation is the way
Robb integrates so many themes into his show. In addition to discussing bullying, Robb also includes other issues that are necessary in the school environment. Robb discusses kindness to others, the fact that we are all different but still have things in common, honesty and respect. Robb maintains an amazing level of energy throughout the show! At one point, Robb asked for a volunteer from the audience to come up and join him. Of course all of the kids raised their hands. Whether it was intentional or not, Robb picked one of our special ed kids who finds simple communication a daily challenge. What unfolded due to Robb's wonderful personality was
nothing short of amazing! Our student laughed, had fun and even with his challenges, participated as well as any other student would have done. At the end, Robb leaves the kids with more than wanting to see more of the show. He leaves the kids with the understanding that we need to be kind to each other whether on the playground or in the classroom. The kids understood that bullying cannot exist if we have respect and kindness. I highly recommend Robb's presentation for any school wanting to plant the seeds of kindness early and teach the children acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions.
